We're All Made of Stardust
Thank you for coming to my site launch party, it seemed like a hit! What even is the barometer? Most of the temporary tattoos are gone, the take what you need spells all found new homes. Everyone killed the snacks and drinks.
Psst: scroll to the end of this post for a web-friendly version of the Take What You Need flower visualization spell, let me know which one you get and if it's relevant for you. I didn't realize until afterwards I neglected to brand the spells, so they're out in the world, with credit to the original photographers, but nothing to direct folks back to this site. Alas! Still learning!
The Party Snacks
Other than spells and temporary tattoos, I made two types of fresh salsa, (the first with roasted tomatoes, tomatillos, garlic, two types of onion, cilantro and charred morita chiles; the second had fresh and roasted pineapple, red onion and cilantro); a roasted carrot and pineapple yogurt dip; and two types of last-minute from-scratch fruit syrups to mix with Fresca (unaffiliated!), tequila, tonic water and lime.
One syrup included watermelon and blackberries the second included roasted and raw pineapple (from Costa Rica!), both with fresh mint leaves. To make sugar syrup, mix equal parts sugar and water on a stove, with fresh fruit as desired, until boiling. I like raw cane and brown sugars because of the depth of flavor that comes from darker foods. Reduce heat to simmer, continue cooking until the syrup reduces, and cool before serving.
Party Pal Gallery
Let me know if there is interest to purchase temporary tattoos, either via commission or existing kimchi/brujita triste designs (see below). They were pretty fun and easy to make!
Should I make a short course to show people how to make their own? What would be the most fun for y'all?
I'm excited my poem in the Kurt Vonnegut literary journal, So It Goes, will be out soon. This month! Very soon.
I'll let y'all know when the journal is officially available for sale, but you can pre-order a copy now; make sure to select "Pre-order Issue 6" in the drop down menu. You'll be able to purchase copies from here once they're available.
I've been chatting realistically with Aladam (Adam and Alana of Diabolical Records, two of my close, cool friends) about auditions for It's Always Smoggy in Salt Lake City.
We're considering styling auditions after the Gong Show, and asking "local celebrities" to help judge performances and determine final part selections. We're thinking February 2018. Sound fun? Ridiculous? Have any thoughts?
Many of you signed up at the launch party for more information about upcoming auditions on a physical piece of paper, and you'll be receiving email updates (as requested) soon. I'm still getting my "Act" together (get it?)
Sign up here if you'd like more information once available. Thank you for your interest and support!
Phew! Thanks for sticking with me through all those recaps and updates.
