Balancing Yin & Yang Energy

Yin & Yang mean the shady & sunny sides of the mountain

Yin & yang Energy— What it is

& the Benefits of Balance

Figuratively, Yin & Yang encompass everything that exists in the Tao— including you & your connection to the Universe. ☯️

Yin & Yang ergo is a universal framework to understand everything— including all existing relationships, energy cycles & natural seasons.

For me, I see Yang as the action-oriented state of doing, moving or creating, whereas Yin is the stillness-oriented state of resting, receiving, surrendering, or nourishing.

Literally, Yin & Yang mean the shady & sunny sides of the mountain. I love the literal meaning, because as anyone who’s spent time in the mountains knows, the sunny & shady sides of the mountains are dependent on the light of the sun, the time of day, & the season of the year — all these other aspects greater than a mountain’s ability to control.

In this way, the shade & sun on a mountain reflect the fluctuating, fluid nature of yin & yang. Some moments are times for growth, some are times for rest. But life on earth is a fluid, seasonal experience. Life is not a vacuum, not simply black & white.

Boundaries around things can be complex, or vague, or contextual & subjective, & so many of the important things happen in nuance — the blurry, gray areas humans habitually attempt to force, carve & coerce into sharper, clearer lines, in order to feel more comfortable & in control.

“What does this have to do with balance, Kelli? Will you get to the point?” I hear you…

The point is this: balance comes from a mutual free-flow of energy & phase changes between the two fluctuating forces of yin & yang — from surrendering to greater forces at play — the perpetual, eternal undulations.

Balance can happen when two or more elements experience equal or opposing forces of tension or relation between them.

& as far as I can tell, all things— people, events or whatever— generally fall into either yin or yang categorizations, & can shift & change between them, depending on what other aspects are also at play.

However, existence supersedes the duality of language & the limitations of humans’ binary belief systems.

That’s what the opposite color dots in the middle of each solid color side of the Yin Yang symbol represent in my opinion — all the exceptions to the rules.

The dots are the symbolic recognition that all is within us, even if we are not everything ourselves. Because nothing is absolute.

So what are the benefits of balancing yin & yang energy, despite the constant fluctuations?

Staying present with natural phases & knowing how to flow between these fluctuating cycles is the key to creating balance, harmony & forward momentum.

Benefits of establishing energetic balance may include:

  • Transformation may happen with more ease & less fear or force

  • Harmony may settle in at home, which means improved communication & relationships

  • Increased resilience after difficult times

  • Improved access to your potential energy storages

Real-life example benefits of balance I’ve witnessed in my clients:

  • Shifts out of mental overwhelm into detachment—one client now has easy access to embrace her energy’s need for both experimentation & self-reflection

  • Successful experiments with marketing strategies specific to human design types led to increases in sales

  • Easeful cross-country moves occurring simultaneously with business & program expansions

  • Improved boundary setting amidst chaotic & stressful life situations

  • Multidimensional channeling, healing & connecting that’s increased both confidence & creativity levels

What shifts could you open up to if you indulged in the time & energy needed to experiment with creating stasis, harmony & balance, at work, in business or at home?

To balance your energy, take aligned action: act when you feel the urge to act, & rest when you need to rest.

If you self-reflect, would you say you’re in a period of yin, yang, or transitioning somewhere between the two?
